वैशाखे मासि कृष्णायां दशम्यां मन्दवासरे।
पूर्वाभाद्रप्रभूताय मङ्गलं श्रीहनूमते ॥ १ ॥
vaiśākhe māsi kṛṣṇāyāṃ daśamyāṃ mandavāsare.
pūrvābhādraprabhūtāya maṅgalaṃ śrīhanūmate .. 1 ..
Mangalam to Sri Hanuman,
Who was born in the month of Visaka,
On the tenth day of the rising moon,
On a Saturday on Poorva bhadra star.

करुणारसपूर्णाय फलापूपप्रियाय च ।
माणिक्यहारकण्ठाय मङ्गलं श्रीहनूमते ॥ २ ॥
karuṇārasapūrṇāya phalāpūpapriyāya ca .
māṇikyahārakaṇṭhāya maṅgalaṃ śrīhanūmate .. 2 ..
Mangalam to Sri Hanuman,
Who has respect for his teachers,
Who likes sweets prepared out of fruits,
And whose different hands are decorated by gems.

सुवर्चलाकलत्राय चतुर्भुजधराय च ।
उष्ट्रारूढाय वीराय मङ्गलं श्रीहनूमते ॥ ३ ॥
suvarcalākalatrāya caturbhujadharāya ca .
uṣṭrārūḍhāya vīrāya maṅgalaṃ śrīhanūmate .. 3 ..
Mangalam to Sri Hanuman,
Who is the consort of Suvarchala,
Who has four arms,
And who is the hero who rides,
On a beam of light.

दिव्यमङ्गलदेहाय पीताम्बरधराय च ।
तप्तकाञ्चनवर्णाय मङ्गलं श्रीहनूमते ॥ ४ ॥
divyamaṅgaladehāya pītāmbaradharāya ca .
taptakāñcanavarṇāya maṅgalaṃ śrīhanūmate .. 4 ..
Mangalam to Sri Hanuman,
Who has a blessed holy body,
Who wears the yellow silk,
And who is of the colour of molten gold.

भक्तरक्षणशीलाय जानकीशोकहारिणे ।
ज्वलत्पावकनेत्राय मङ्गलं श्रीहनूमते ॥ ५ ॥
bhaktarakṣaṇaśīlāya jānakīśokahāriṇe .
jvalatpāvakanetrāya maṅgalaṃ śrīhanūmate .. 5 ..
Mangalam to Sri Hanuman,
Who is known to save his devotees,
Who destroyed the sorrow of Janaki,
And who has the purest eyes of the world.

पम्पातीरविहाराय सौमित्रिप्राणदायिने ।
सृष्टिकारणभूताय मङ्गलं श्रीहनूमते ॥ ६ ॥
pampātīravihārāya saumitriprāṇadāyine .
sṛṣṭikāraṇabhūtāya maṅgalaṃ śrīhanūmate .. 6 ..
Mangalam to Sri Hanuman,
Who lives in the shores of Pampa river,
Who saved the life of Lakshmana,
And who is in the throat of the whole world.

रम्भावनविहाराय गन्धमादनवासिने ।
सर्वलोकैकनाथाय मङ्गलं श्रीहनूमते ॥ ७ ॥
rambhāvanavihārāya gandhamādanavāsine .
sarvalokaikanāthāya maṅgalaṃ śrīhanūmate .. 7 ..
Mangalam to Sri Hanuman,
Who lived in the forests of Rampa,
Who lived with pleasant happy people,
And who is in the throat of the whole world.

पञ्चाननाय भीमाय कालनेमिहराय च ।
कौण्डिन्यगोत्रजाताय मङ्गलं श्रीहनूमते ॥ ८ ॥
pañcānanāya bhīmāya kālanemiharāya ca .
kauṇḍinyagotrajātāya maṅgalaṃ śrīhanūmate .. 8 ..
Mangalam to Sri Hanuman,
Who has five faces, who is gross,
Who killed Kalanemi,
And who belonged to the Koundinya clan.

इति श्री हनुमान् मङ्गलाष्टकम् ॥

Description

Mangala stotras are normally recited at the end of reciting several stotras or the end of singing several songs or at the end of an auspicious function. The devotee wishes auspiciousness to the Lord. Mangalam may also mean good wishes or wishes for a happy ending. Hanumath Mangalashtakam is an octet that is recited at the end of Hanuman Pooja during Arati. It enumerates Hanuman’s traits. This Mantra is chanted to cure diseases and solve all problems in life.
