मङ्गलं पुण्डरीकाक्षो मङ्गलाय तनो हरिः॥
maṅgalaṃ puṇḍarīkākṣo maṅgalāya tano hariḥ ..

Description
The shloka “maṅgalaṁ bhagavān viṣṇuḥ maṅgalaṁ garuḍadhvajaḥ…” is a popular verse invoking blessings and auspiciousness from Lord Vishnu and other divine beings. It is widely used in religious ceremonies, prayers, and rituals to invoke peace and auspiciousness. Maṅgala, or true auspiciousness is not just material prosperity but inner peace and spiritual awakening. Lord Vishnu as the preserver of the universe, is seen as the ultimate source of this spiritual auspiciousness. This shloka is also found in the Vishnu Sahasranamam.
Garudadhwaja refers to Vishnu as the one whose emblem is Garuda (the divine eagle/bird who serves as Vishnu’s mount). Garuḍa symbolizes speed, strength, and devotion. The sight of Garuḍa itself is considered a sign of protection and auspiciousness.
Puṇḍarīkākṣaḥ means ‘The lotus-eyed one.’ The Lotus symbolizes purity, spiritual awakening, and detachment. Lord Vishnu’s lotus eyes reflect His compassionate gaze upon all living beings. Seeing His eyes is believed to dissolve fear and bring inner peace and well-being.
Hariḥ is the one who removes all sins and suffering. Chanting His name or contemplating His divine form removes ignorance and suffering, paving the way for spiritual progress and liberation (mokṣa).
